Final Exam Schedule

FINAL EXAMS ARE COMING!

In an effort to help students prepare for their final exams, learn valuable study skills, and finish the school year successfully, we would like to reinforce the importance of attendance during our exam week from June 17th to June 25th.

When students have completed writing their exams, they will have an extended lunch break and they will return to the school for the afternoon.  During this time they will be reviewing course work in each subject, identifying key points, collaborating with peers, clarifying information, doing practice exam questions and benefiting from the guidance of a teacher.

Our days will be scheduled in the following way:

8:15-9:15 - Brief review period
9:30 - 11:30 - Exam (students who require additional time, can have until 12:30)  Students will be required to write for a minimum of 1 hour before they can be dismissed.
1:16 - 2:50 - Regular classes will take place.  Attendance will be taken as usual and parents will be notified if their child is absent.  During the afternoon, students will have the opportunity to review notes, ask questions, and work with peers to prepare for the next day’s exam.  Please ensure that your child brings their notes and assignments from the course as well as their technology to access their Google classroom. All students will be writing their exam in their homeroom classroom.

EXAM SCHEDULE HERE:

JUNE 18 Gr. 7-9 ELA PART B
JUNE 19 Gr. 7-9 MATH PART A
JUNE 20 Gr. 7-9 MATH PART B

Please note that June 21, 2024 is National Indigenous People’s Day.  As such, there are no scheduled exams on that day.  We will begin the day with a celebration of Indigenous People after which we will be leaving for our school wide field trip to West Edmonton Mall Waterpark.

In Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools,  we are confident that junior high students will benefit from structured review sessions and that this will directly impact their confidence as they approach exams.  Research indicates that students who feel prepared for exams experience reduced anxiety and better academic success.  We thank you for reinforcing the importance of these days and ensuring that students attend regularly.  The process for reporting Parent Approved Absences  will remain the same.

Reminder: Students are not allowed to leave the exam room until the entire exam period has ended, including double time. Please ensure students bring a book to read, study materials, or drawing supplies for after their exam. Water bottles and snacks are also permitted. Personal devices will not be allowed until all exams are submitted.
