Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools recognizes student achievement in various ways, including a District Academic Honours Certificate for grades 7-9 students. This certificate is modelled after the professionally recognized criteria of the Alberta Rutherford High School Achievement Scholarship.
Guidelines
- District awards to honour students in grades 7-9 are as follows:
- Grades 7, 8, and 9 Academic Honour Certificates shall be presented annually to students achieving a combined average of at least 80% in their core courses (English Language Arts/French Language Arts, Social Studies, Science and Math) and a student must also achieve 70% or better in Religion and a minimum of a 3 in Physical Education.
- To be eligible for honours, students must also have passed all other option courses.
- French Language Arts or English Language Arts (whichever has the highest mark) will be included in the core course average for determining honours.
